Has the UKCA Transition Deadline been extended?
The UK government has extended the recognition of CE marking until 31st December 2024 or 30th June 2025 for Construction Products, pushing back the original deadline. The UK replaced CE marking with UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking for compliance with UK standards. Currently, UK and EU standards are identical, so products will carry both UKCA and CE markings. When standards diverge, only the relevant marking will be used.
Construction Products Regulation
We supply all doors with CE marking and a Declaration of Conformity as per the Construction Products Directive, now superseded by the Construction Products Regulation.
Key Changes
Key changes include enhanced safety devices to prevent operation in case of failure or obstruction, preventing injury or death. All components must be tested to EN 13241-1:2003 +A1:2011 standards, confirmed by a CE Label and Declaration of Performance certificate.
Assessment
Each door installation requires a qualified assessment to evaluate application, user/operator risks, and necessary safety devices to ensure legal compliance with EN 13241-1:2003 +A1:2011. Here at SDG, we ensure compliance through rigorous testing and supplier evaluation.
Electric operated doors require a test certificate confirming:
- Resistance to wind load
- Watertightness
- Thermal transmittance
- Air permeability
- Safe operation
- Geometry of glass components
- Mechanical resistance and stability
- Operating forces
- Dangerous substances
If unsure about the compliance of your door, check the CE marking for EN 13241-1:2003 +A1:2011 or contact us at 0800 978 8811 or through our contact form.
